Parents and carers

Caring responsibilities mean extra pressure at work as well as at home. Caregivers, including parents, may be concerned about issues such as finance and managing work/life balance, as well as their day-to-day work responsibilities. We highlight media organisations that proactively support parents and carers.

Financial Times

The FT is committed to improving work-life balance and helping working parents strike a better balance between their work and family commitments.

FT Families is the FT’s global employee network, developed and run by working parents to support families and parents-to-be across the FT Group. The aim is to nurture a culture that provides equal opportunities for parents/non-parents to achieve their full potential.

As part of ongoing efforts to make the FT a more equitable workplace, the organisation has expanded paid paternity leave to 12 weeks for all eligible global employees. It also formalised plans to launch new paid leave options from 1 January 2022, including paid bereavement leave for parents who suffer a miscarriage, child loss or stillbirth.
