Panel themes for 25th anniversary conference

The future of AI and journalism, re-setting police and media relations and engaging new audiences in politics will be key focuses of the upcoming Society of Editors conference.

Taking place on 30 April 2024 at the Leonardo Royal Hotel, London, St Paul’s, the high-profile event will see more than 150 leading editors and news leaders come together to debate the key opportunities and challenges facing the industry including how to engage first-time voters, tackle disinformation during a year of global elections and the practicalities and responsibilities of war reporting.

Announcing the panel themes, Dawn Alford, Executive Director of the Society of Editors said: “This year the Society will celebrate 25 years of advocating on behalf of press freedom both at home and on the global stage and our anniversary conference will bring together some of the biggest names in journalism to discuss the most pressing topics.

“From the opportunities and threats posed by AI to how to engage audiences in a year of global elections and the reality and responsibilities of reporting from the front line, the conference aims to provide delegates with thought-provoking and practical solutions to take back to their newsrooms.”

Once again, the conference will feature an influential Editors’ Panel that will bring together leading national, regional, and broadcast news leaders to discuss the media landscape, coverage of the biggest news stories and threats to journalism. The event will also include a high-profile drinks reception after the conference celebrating the work of the Society over two decades.

The first confirmed speakers for the conference will be announced next week and booking is now open with a members’ day delegate rate priced at £188+VAT and a non-members rate of £198 + VAT. To book or to enquire about sponsorship opportunities please email office@societyofeditors.org.
