In Discussion with the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Burnett of Maldon

Lord Burnett will focus on The Law and the Media: Maintaining Justice in a conversation with the SoE’s executive director Ian Murray.
Appointed to the position of Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales in October 2017, Lord Burnett of Maldon will touch upon areas including cameras in court, video-access to live hearings and the challenges posed by social media and protecting fair trials.
It will be an opportunity to hear more from the head of the judiciary about mutual concerns for both judges and the media during the ongoing pandemic.
The discussion is part of the Society’s Virtual Conference programme for 2020.
