Society of Editors members’ are being offered the opportunity to apply for a Google surveys market research grant.
As part of Google’s initiative to support high-quality journalism through technology and innovation, the Society’s members can now apply to use Google consumer surveys for free.
The Google Surveys platform, which can be used to conduct surveys for both a national and regional audience, allows for smarter, faster market research for today’s society. It is used by journalists and market researchers alike to help gauge the state of the nation and opinions on topical issues that need to be discussed right now. From a journalist’s perspective, Google Surveys is a simple tool that allows you to ask the questions that matter to you and your readers and to get answers in close to real-time.
Here is a good example of using Google Surveys from Trinity Mirror’s Manchester Evening News. They took what was in essence a national issue but editorial made it relevant to their readership in the North West of England.
Usage is not just limited to politics. Whatever it may be Google Surveys can help add insights into the issues you want to address. As digital journalism evolves it is important to invite the audience in, Google Surveys allow just this.
