BBC presenter and renowned foreign correspondent Clive Myrie will speak at next month’s Society of Editors Media Freedom conference (The Future of News), it has been announced.
Myrie, a multi award-winning journalist and host of the BBC’s long-running Mastermind series since 2021, joins a programme of influential editors and journalists speaking at the Society’s one-day event taking place on Wednesday 15 March 2023 at the Leonardo Royal Hotel in London.
A former Asia, Africa, Washington and Europe Correspondent for the BBC, Myrie continues to present the One, Six and Ten 0’Clock News bulletins as well as reporting programmes for Panorama, Newsnight and Radio 4.
Announcing Myrie’s participation in the conference, Kamal Ahmed, President of the Society of Editors said: “We are honoured to have Clive join us. I was lucky enough to work with him at BBC News and he was one of the finest journalists I had the privilege to meet. His work on the wildfires in Australia and, in the last year, on Ukraine, are stand out moments. His thoughts on the future of news are a must see.”
Alongside Myrie, new additions to the conference programme include Charlotte Dewar, Chief Executive of the press regulator the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) and Channel 5 News presenter Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije.
All join an influential line-up of confirmed speakers including Sarah Whitehead, Deputy Head of Newsgathering at Sky News, Alison Phillips, Editor at the Daily Mirror, Ben Taylor, Editor at The Sunday Times, Camilla Tominey, Associate Editor at the Telegraph, Sophia Smith Galer, Senior News Reporter at VICE World News, Roya Nikkhah, Royal Editor at The Sunday Times, Rebecca Camber, Chair of the Crime Reporters Association and many more. Booking for the conference is open and those wishing to attend have less than a fortnight to take advantage of the early-bird rate. Tickets booked before 13 February are priced at £135+VAT for members and £145+VAT for non-members.
