UK national news platforms have five days left to enter the National Press Awards for 2019. The awards are organised by the Society of Editors on behalf of the industry and will celebrate the best of British national journalism published during the last year.

Entries are open until Friday 10 January 2020.

To reflect the increasing excellence of the digital outputs of news platforms, new categories include ‘News Podcast’ and ‘Lifestyle Podcast’ awards, plus the return of ‘Business and Finance Team of the Year’. Criteria for entry includes work published in print, website, online, mobile, video, audio or any other news delivery format in any UK national newspaper or any UK-based news website or platform covering UK national news during 2019 (excluding broadcast media).

A shortlist will be announced in February 2020.  

Winners will be announced at the industry’s most prestigious event in the media calendar: the Press Awards gala dinner on Thursday 2 April 2020. More than 400 editors, writers and columnists will gather to celebrate the quality, plurality and achievements of national journalism. Proceeds will help fund the Society of Editors campaigning for press freedom.
