Editors and news leaders will once again come together in early 2026 for the Society of Editors’ flagship Future of News Conference
A key event in the media calendar, the annual conference will take place on Tuesday 17 March 2026 at the Leonardo Royal Hotel in London with more than 200 leading editors and news executives from all sectors of the UK news industry coming together to debate the key opportunities and biggest issues shaping journalism.
Previous speakers and guests have included Prime Ministers Rishi Sunak and Theresa May, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Chief Constables, Ministers of State and some of the most recognisable names in journalism such as Kate Adie, Alex Crawford, Christina Lamb, Jeremy Bowen and Clive Myrie.
The 2026 programme will be announced in full in the coming weeks, but delegates can expect:
- High level keynotes and in-depth panel discussions on the future of journalism, audience trust, AI and innovation, business sustainability and supporting and protecting journalists.
- A strong focus on the issues facing regional and local news organisations as well as national and broadcast newsrooms.
- Practical ideas and case studies that delegates can take back to their own newsrooms.
- Engaging and inspiring sessions with keynote contributions that are not only informative but also energising and enjoyable.
Delegates will not only hear from leading voices across the industry but will also have the chance to join the conversation, share experiences and take away practical, newsroom ready insights. The day will also include a catered lunch, ample networking opportunities and a drinks reception to close the event.
