A Journalism Matters campaign will take place from 5 to 11 October 2020 to celebrate the importance of trusted journalism, with a nod to news media campaigns and initiatives produced during the Covid-19 crisis.
Run by the News Media Association, the week which was previously known as Local Newspaper Week, was postponed earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The NMA says this year’s campaign will highlight the vital importance of trusted journalism and accurate journalism produced by the news media industry during the pandemic and the ongoing threat to news media posed by the tech giants.
The annual Making a Difference online public vote will be held for the best national and local newspaper campaigns of the past year.
The campaign will also include a #trustednewsday on 8 October which will highlight the challenges of reporting on coronavirus issues.
