Women in Journalism: Editor Spotlight series and pitching opportunity

Posted on: July 28, 2020 by admin

Women in Journalism is launching a new Editor Spotlight series kicking off with Rosie Nixon, editor-in chief of Hello!, on Monday 10 August.

The series will give WiJ members valuable career tips and a clear insight into what it takes to get to the top of the journalistic profession and thrive.

The interviews with media matriarchs will be published over five consecutive days (Monday to Friday) on the WiJ Facebook Group and new website.

WiJ has said the Editor Spotlight series will be used to create new work opportunities for its members, with editors taking part agreeing to give an opportunity for members to pitch for an exclusive commission.

Editors will be inviting pitches on a topic of their choosing and members who have never written for the publication before must submit their ideas to Women in Journalism by emailing wijpitchtome@gmail.com before the final instalment of each editor’s week-long Spotlight is published on the Friday.

The best five pitches will be put to the editor and the winning commission will be announced the following Friday.

Once the winning article has been published, WiJ will then profile the winning writer to share their experience with fellow WiJ members.

To learn from the best female editors in the business and pitch to them, join Women in Journalism and its Facebook group.
