The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport will address more than 200 leading editors and news executives at the Society of Editors 25th Anniversary Conference next week.
Taking place at the Leonardo Royal London Hotel in St Paul’s on Tuesday 30 April, the conference will see Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer MP discuss the future of news at the annual media gathering.
Announcing her participation, Dawn Alford, Executive Director of the Society said: “As part of the programme for our 25th anniversary conference, we are delighted that the Secretary of State responsible for the media will be joining us and addressing those in attendance.
“The event promises to be an informative and unique opportunity to hear from some of the biggest names in journalism and we look forward to gathering to watch them debate some of the most pressing topics for our industry.”
The conference will also hear from the Lady Chief Justice the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill; Jonathan Munro, Deputy CEO of BBC News and Director of Journalism for the Corporation; Alex Crawford, Special Correspondent for Sky News, Christina Lamb, Chief Foreign Correspondent for The Sunday Times; Pippa Crerar, Political Editor at The Guardian; Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Channel 4 News presenter, BBC Analysis Editor Ros Atkins, Maria Breslin, Editor of the Liverpool Echo and Dylan Jones, Editor of the Evening Standard amongst others. As well as the challenges and responsibilities of reporting from the front line, other panel themes include the next steps for police and media relations, the future of journalism and AI and engaging new audiences in politics.
