The Media Society (TMS) has issued an appeal for members as it copes with the cancellation of events during the current Covid-19 crisis.
The organisation relies on its talks and events throughout the year for funding and is staffed by volunteers. However, its talks and activities have been curtailed by the coronavirus lockdown.
In an appeal to supporters, TMS president Peter York said:
“TMS events are our only source of income, as we don’t have sponsorship. We are volunteer-run and while we have very small outgoings we are starting to eat into our reserves.
“Becoming a member now – at whatever level you can afford – would be a massive help.
“We are determined to continue and maintain this high standard of unique and insightful events.
“We’ve had some terrific events already this year: Carrie Gracie at the Groucho, Evan Davies at the Women’s University Club and the marvellous tribute to Richard Lindley in the BBC Council Chamber. Media issues have never been so important.”
