Registration is still open for the Society of Editors’ upcoming In Discussion With… interview with BBC Editorial Director Kamal Ahmed on Thursday 12 November 2020.
Titled, The Future of BBC News in a Changing Media Landscape, the discussion will take place as part of the Society’s Virtual Conference programme for 2020.
With the BBC reporting significant success in capturing audiences during the current pandemic crisis, yet at the same time facing questions over alleged bias and its very future, the corporation’s Editorial Director will join SoE director Ian Murray to discuss what the future holds for reporting the news for the world’s most successful public broadcaster.
Looking ahead to the discussion Murray said that it was an opportunity for the public to hear more about the BBCs ongoing coverage of the pandemic and the editorial direction that the corporation was working towards for the future.
He said: “We are delighted that Kamal has agreed to take part in the Society’s upcoming In Discussion With…series and we look forward to hearing in more detail about the BBC’s future editorial strategy and steps to ensure that its coverage remains relevant to its audiences.”
The Society’s In Discussion With…series will also hear from Rachel Corp, recently appointed Editor of ITV News and the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Burnett of Maldon on November 26 and November 19 respectively.
The interview with Kamal will be available from 12 Noon on Thursday 12 November on the Society of Editors website. Details of how to register for all the Society’s upcoming talks and panel discussions are available on the Society’s website here.
