I am writing as Chair of Together TV (The Community Channel).

As Trustees we have come together to raise a new fund to broadcast and share more content made by, with and about diverse communities.

We know that by showing more diverse and inspirational content that reflects lives, stories and experiences, we will bring people and communities together – our channel, with its fast-growing 20m audience across the UK, really does change lives. 27% of our viewers say they have changed their opinions about people and issues thanks to watching our channel, and 17% say we have motivated them to do more in their community.

We know that many people do not see a positive and accurate portrayal of diverse and under-represented communities in our media. The murder of George Floyd and the global Black Lives Matter protests have been a wake-up call.

With your help in raising this fund we can share the stories that truly reflect our communities, and at the same time support diverse and under-represented film-makers and story-tellers – a long tradition of our work at Together TV.

We have 26 days to reach, and hopefully even surpass our target, and with your help we can do this – it would mean a lot if you can add your support at this key early stage.
